Unemployment

In 1933, the Great Depression was at its absolute worst. One in four Americans who wanted
to work couldn't find a job. In most homes, the wives did not work. If the husband lost his job,
the family was out of luck and out of resources. In 1929, the average annual income for most
families is $750. By 1932, 13 million Americans had lost their jobs. Along with this, the tax
rate was raised from 25 to 63 percent. The American people elect Franklin D. Roosevelt into
office in 1932.
